Carlyon Bay comprises three distinct beaches—Crinnis, Polgaver, and Shorthorn—stretching along the coastline near St Austell. The interconnected sandy beaches offer broad expanses backed by cliffs and natural scenery. Crinnis Beach is the most accessible and historically the main leisure area, while Polgaver is known for a more secluded experience.
Historically, Carlyon Bay was once the site of a famous entertainment complex, but today the beaches remain natural and uncommercialised. The long, flat stretches of sand are well-suited for walking, relaxing, and beach games. At low tide, the three beaches merge into one continuous sandy bay, making it popular for those seeking space even in summer.
While basic facilities such as toilets and a café are available, visitors should be aware that amenities are otherwise limited. The lack of lifeguard cover means visitors need to exercise caution when swimming or enjoying the water.

5 months agoCame across it as I had to pick up some paint from Brewers. Very peaceful and outstanding views!!! Not easy to access for all.

5 months agoBig beach nice sand had good walk and very nice cream tea. Toilets not listed on Google but there were dodgy hire Toilets.
