Gillan Cove is a small and secluded sandy cove situated near the mouth of the Helford River, within the Helston & The Lizard region. Surrounded by rural countryside and woodlands, it offers a quiet and unspoilt setting, ideal for those seeking tranquillity away from busier tourist spots.
The cove is sheltered, making its calm waters suitable for paddling and swimming in good conditions, though there are no lifeguards. At low tide, a sandy beach is revealed along with rocky outcrops and shallow pools. Its relatively remote location means it is seldom crowded, even in peak summer.
There are no built facilities here, reinforcing the natural atmosphere and quiet charm. The cove is a favourite with walkers exploring the South West Coast Path and small boats accessing the Helford River. The absence of parking or amenities makes it best suited to those happy to walk and enjoy a wilder beach experience.
