Porthcressa Beach lies at the southern edge of Hugh Town on St Mary’s in the Isles of Scilly. This sheltered, sandy beach curves around a bay and is popular for its proximity to town amenities. The promenade runs along the back of the beach and offers seating as well as convenient access to cafés and shops nearby.
The beach appeals to families and swimmers due to generally calm waters, though there is no confirmation of lifeguard coverage. Porthcressa Beach is also used for local events and community gatherings. Its location makes it a central spot for visitors staying on St Mary’s.
Seasonal dog bans apply during the busiest summer periods. Despite its town setting, the beach maintains a relaxed atmosphere characteristic of the Isles of Scilly.
