Towan Beach is the central town beach of Newquay, and stretches beneath the well-known Towan Island, which is accessed via a suspension footbridge. Sheltered by surrounding headlands and Newquay Harbour, the beach offers generally calm conditions, making it popular for families and novice surfers. At low tide, Towan joins with neighbouring Great Western and Tolcarne beaches, creating a vast sandy expanse. The beach is located very close to Newquay town centre, meaning amenities and local attractions are easily accessible. The presence of a surf school and year-round dog-friendly policy make Towan a popular choice for both active visitors and those with pets. Caution is advised around rocks and at higher tides, when the beach becomes much smaller.
