Widemouth Bay is a large, open sandy beach located just south of Bude on the North Cornwall coast. It is popular with families and surfers due to its long stretch of flat sand and reliable waves. At low tide, the beach reveals rock pools and interesting geological features, making it engaging for children and beachcombers alike.
The beach is backed by low cliffs and grassy slopes, offering panoramic coastal views. Several cafés and surf shops are situated close by, with facilities including toilets and surf schools catering to visitors. The area is also known for its clean waters and RNLI-patrolled swimming areas during the main season.
Due to its exposed nature, Widemouth Bay is suitable for surfing throughout much of the year and is considered a good spot for beginners as well as experienced surfers. Access is convenient and there are extensive parking options close to the sand.
